A Letter From Nurse Greif
Week Five is now in the books! We are always learning how to increase our safety measures at Trinity. Just as COVID-19 changes, so do we. Please read the following notes and discuss the appropriate ones with your children. I can tell that they are happy to be back on campus! We are so happy to have them here with us.
- If your child is showing symptoms of being ill, please keep him/her home. If your child is coughing constantly, has a runny or congested nose, has a headache or sore throat, or is obviously fatigued, he/she should not be in school. Please discuss with your child the importance of being open and honest about the way he/she is physically feeling. A child who is uncomfortable due to possible illness in the morning before school will often complain constantly of not feeling well throughout the day. Sick children do not learn in the classroom. Even though we are being extremely cautious with our safety measures, sick children spread their illness to other children/teachers. Please err on the side of caution and keep your child home in this situation.
- If your child is ill and you are keeping him/her home, please do not worry about missing schoolwork. Only students whose parents have chosen long-term Distance Learning and students who have been exposed to COVID-19 and are quarantining are allowed to participate in online learning. If your child is missing 1-4 days of school due to regular illness, he/she will make the work up as usual.
- If you choose to move your child to Distance Learning, you will need to give the school a week’s notice before your child will be allowed to return to on-campus learning.
- Trinity has had multiple students diagnosed with Covid-19. We are not allowed to disclose any information regarding these students. Because we are not able to distance a full six feet between students, especially in the Middle School, we were required by the Leon County Health Department to quarantine several students. As we have additional students test positive, the whole school email will go out again as notification. If you do not receive a phone call from either Nurse Greif, Mrs. Bechtol, or Mr. Bridges, your child is not considered a close contact of the student who has tested positive, and is not required to quarantine.
- The most updated decision tree regarding students who have tested positive for COVID-19 and the process involved when that occurs is located on the COVID-19 page of the Trinity website.
- Any student who has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher must be fever-free for 48 hours with no fever-reducing medication on board in order to return to campus.
- It is of the upmost importance that you notify the school if your child is sick. If you have your child seen by a physician, please send in the appropriate visit paperwork so we are able to trace any illnesses we experience at the school this year.
- Please send any remaining Health forms into the Clinic. Any student with an expired Temporary Medical Exemption will be excluded from school beginning 09/30/21. Any new students, Kindergarteners, or Seventh Graders without documented vaccinations will be excluded from school beginning 9/30/21. Please call your doctors and get these forms taken care of immediately. We want your children healthy and IN CLASS!!
- Adolescents who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 should have a full cardiac screening prior to playing sports. PLEASE speak to your personal physician regarding this topic. It is of paramount importance.
- If ANYONE in the family is being tested for COVID-19, EVERYONE should stay home until negative test results are received.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. We learned last year how to best keep our Trinity community safe and healthy. As we continue working as a team, we will succeed in having another healthy and happy school year.
