• Summer Learning Packets 2019

All rising (going into) 1st through 8th Grade students will be responsible for completing “Summer Learning Packets.” These packets are designed to challenge students in the areas of reading, and writing.  Included in the packet are instructions for reading and guidelines for writing book reports.

This summer, we will be using IXL as our summer math practice. Your student will be given their username and password before the last day of school. An IXL Summer Parent Handout will be sent home with students. Each student has been given an end-of-year diagnostic test. Based on the results, IXL creates a “Recommendation Wall.” The skills on the Recommendation Wall are the areas your child could use the most practice.

Rising 1st and 2nd graders will be required to complete a minimum of 5 hours. Rising 3rd - 5th graders will be required to complete a minimum of 10 hours. And rising 6th - 8th graders will be required to complete a minimum of 15 hours of practice, over the entire summer, from their Recommendation Wall. Parents can check the progress of their child on the Analytics tab of IXL. On the first day of school, teachers will print out a report of practice completed and students will be assigned a grade. Additionally, memorization and practice of math facts is vital for success in future concepts.

Please spend some time with your child going over the Summer Learning Packets and forming a "game plan" for their completion. Students are expected to turn in ALL completed work on the first day of school on August 9, 2019.
