Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jami Owens
This is my first year teaching at Trinity. I am very excited to be here and look forward to teaching and working with the students and parent. I will be working with the gifted students in elementary school and the resource students in middle school.
I grew up in Indiana, lived in North Carolina for five years and have been a resident of Florida for almost four years. I have an 11 year old daughter and two fur babies; a 3 month old miniture dachshund named Alfalfa, and an 8 month old lab named Darla. If you have noticed, I have a Little Rascals theme for my fur babies' names.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. I completed my Special Education Licensure Program at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. I received my Masters in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. I am currently in a doctoral program working on my Doctorate in Education degree with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. My research topic is focused on the Gifted and Talented Program. I am officially a doctoral candidate and working on my dissertation.
I am currently in my 16th year of teaching. I have teaching license in three states, Florida being the third state I have taught in. I am certified or have applied for certification in the following areas: ESE, Middle Grades Language Arts, Elementary Education, Gifted Education, and Educational Leadership. I have experience teaching in the classroom as well as curriculum development.
