Dr. Jami Owens
This is my fourth year teaching at Trinity. I am very excited to be here and look forward to another year teaching and working with the students and parents. I will continue working with the gifted students in elementary school and the resource students in middle school.
Family is very important to me along with my love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. God is the center of my life and I strive on a daily basis to be like my Savior. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach and be a part of the Trinity family. It is comforting to know that I can come to work and feel the Spirit on a daily basis. I strive to show the students, parents, and staff the pure love of Christ through my words, actions, and deeds.
I grew up in Indiana, lived in North Carolina for five years, and have been a resident of Florida for the past seven years. My brother is in the Army so I have moved where he has been stationed to be close to family, although I still have family in Indiana and Idaho. I am married, have a 14-year-old daughter, and three fur babies (a miniature dachshund named Porky, a standard dachshund named Alfalfa, and a lab named Darla).
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. I completed my Special Education Licensure Program at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. I received my Masters in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. I earned my Doctorate in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction focusing on Gifted Education from Capella University. I am a lifelong learner and have a great love of learning. I am a member of the Florida Association for the Gifted (FLAG), Psi Chi, Pi Lambda Theta, and Kappa Delta Pi.
I have been in the education field for the past 21 years. I have taught 1st through 12th grades and adults as well as developed a curriculum for various training programs. I am certified to teach in Indiana, North Carolina, and Florida in the areas of ESE, Middle Grades Language Arts, Elementary Education, Gifted Education, and Educational Leadership.
Please feel free to email me anytime you have questions or concerns about your child's educational needs.
