CATHOLIC IDENTITY THEMES FOR THE YEAR

Our Church has dedicated 2022 to Mary, the Mother of God. Mary
is a powerful intercessor for us, a go-between between us and her
Son, Jesus. Much like she did at the Wedding Feast at Cana, Mary
asks her Son to intercede and answer our prayers. (I love the fact
that Jesus’ first miracle was at a celebration!)
We use the Dominican Sister’s Virtues in Practice Program to
promote good, Christian habits among our students. The Virtue of
the Year is FAITH, so we will be emphasizing virtues that are under
that Theological Virtue. Saints of the Month are St. Martha, St.
Jerome and St. Augustine. Virtues will be presented during the
announcements and after school Masses.
Here are a few ideas on how to promote these themes at home:
 Pray the rosary together.
 Visit Jesus in the tabernacle.
 Read a Bible passage aloud each night.
 Ask a priest to bless a crucifix or other sacramentals for your
home or child’s bedroom.
 Discuss the readings and homilies after your family attends
Mass.
 Recite the Apostles’ Creed or Nicene Creed.
 Share your faith with friends and family. Discuss the Saints of
the Month with your children.
Use the themes of this year to grow your Faith, and be thankful
for all the blessings it brings! ~ Tommy Bridges
