Summer Learning Packets 2018
All rising (going into) 1st through 8th Grade students will be responsible for completing “Summer Learning Packets.” These packets are designed to challenge students in the areas of math, reading, and writing. Included in the packet (see below) are instructions for reading, guidelines for writing book reports, and student math goal forms. Summer Solutions Math Workbooks were sent home at the end of the school year, with this letter and math computation resource suggestions.
Our students had a busy year learning new math skills and concepts. Practice with the Summer Solutions Math Workbook will help build upon the previous year’s math skills and concepts. Each student will be required to complete a minimum of 15 lessons of their choice in the workbook for the Summer Learning Packet. Once completed, both student and parent must sign the Student Math Goal Form. Additionally, memorization and practice of math facts (see guidelines and suggestions in teh packets below) is vital for success in future concepts.
Summer reading is critical to a child's ability to not only retain information learned the previous year, but also to grow in knowledge and critical thinking skills for the coming year. Book reports challenge students to think and write critically about what they’ve read. Reading lists and Book Report guidelines are included in the Summer Learning Packets.
Please spend some time with your child going over the Summer Learning Packets and forming a "game plan" for their completion. Students are expected to turn in ALL completed work including the reading assignments and signed Student Math Goal Form on the first day of school on August 10, 2018.
